Beyond Kung Fu teaches personal growth and character development through the physical and mental practices of the study of the martial art – Kung Fu, which originated approximately 1500 years ago in China. Sticking to the roots of this ancient art form, students will quickly develop attributes such as focus, self discipline, respect, integrity, perseverance/dedication, motivation and much more.

The instructors and staff at Beyond Kung Fu are highly trained in martial arts, are extremely caring individuals and place emphasis on the importance of attention to detail, in all of the classes, in order to draw out the very best in each student. Whether your goals are to be a well rounded martial artist, lose weight, tone muscles, increase cardio-vascular fitness, develop self-discipline, focus, motivation, raise self-esteem, confidence, or to just simply have fun, there is something for everyone.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Kung Fu Basics and Classical Taolu (Forms)

Beyond Kung Fu takes an in-depth study of the classical Shaolin basics and Taolu (forms).  Students will develop their minds and bodies by practicing beautiful, flowing, linear and circular motions.  These movements and forms increase in difficulty as the student progresses through the various levels and include open hand and weapons, such as sword, staff and spear.

Self Defence

At Beyond Kung Fu, you will learn how to use specific martial art self defence techniques to defend yourself against a real life attacker in simulated self defence scenarios. Training in self defence will greatly reduce your fear and anxiety around the possibility of being attacked. More importantly, you will develop the ability to avoid ‘high risk’ situations. Kids will learn anti-bullying strategies and learn how to befriend, avoid or in the last case situation, physically defend themselves.

Fitness

Fitness is another major reason for training in the martial arts. If you have become bored by the same old routine of a gym and have felt the lack of motivation to make it there, then Beyond Kung Fu is for you. The best fitness program is the one you are going to stick with. The instructors at Beyond Kung Fu are trained in motivating you to be your best; soon with continued practice, you will discover that being your best is actually easier and more fulfilling than living beneath your potential.

Meditation

To know yourself is to sit quietly with yourself.  Meditation provides that unique opportunity to listen to your body and mind and become mindful of your true nature and bring calm to your mental state.  Beyond Kung Fu allows students to experience many forms of meditation both moving and stillness.  This experience aids students in helping to find a practice that feels right for them as each person is unique in their meditation needs.

Community Spirit

The spirit of Kung Fu is not just what happens on the mats, it is also how you live day-to-day.  Beyond Kung Fu provides students ample opportunities to participate in community service events and volunteer activities.  There is nothing more rewarding than putting Kung Fu energy towards helping those in need without the expectation of something in return.  Our Kung Fu family is not just members of our school, it extends beyond the walls to our Kung Fu community.
