Beyond Kung Fu is committed to keeping our students safe and will continue to have the club closed until safer gatherings of people, in an enclosed space, can be permitted.
Ontario is currently in the planning stages for the next phases of re-opening. When such time is announced that martial arts training facilities can return to training, and to ensure a safe reopening, the following measures will be put into place until further notice:
CLASS PROTOCOLS
1. Classes will be 45 minutes in length, with 30 minute breaks in between.
This will allow time for students to leave the training area safely, to maintain class numbers and to provide time for Management to safely clean the space. Please arrive 10 minutes early to give ample time for entrance protocols. Students will not be allowed to enter until cleaning is completed.
2. There will be set class time(s) for all members.
All members will be contacted to discuss convenient class time preferences. Once all preferences are compiled the schedule will be reviewed and time slots will be developed. NOTE: We will do our best to accommodate everyone’s specified availability, while also ensuring mandated numbers are safely maintained.
3. Training zones will be marked on the floor and only one student will be allowed in each of the training zones.
Class sizes will be mandated by government bodies regarding the number of people within an enclosed space and the amount of training zones will be dependent on the training floor square footage.
4. All students/instructors will maintain social distancing measures with a physical distance of at least 2 metres, or as specified by local health authorities.
5. There will be a dedicated entrance and exit strategy.
Students will enter the front door of the space and follow arrows identified within the training area, for proper entering and exiting paths. When class is finished we ask that they exit through the back door. Parents are asked to maintain social distancing while waiting for their child with one person at a time coming to the door for drop off and pick up. This will help with crowding at the entrance and exiting locations.
6. All students will fill out a health checklist and undergo temperature check upon entering the school.
Following public health guidelines, students will have their temperature checked before class with a no-touch thermometer. A health checklist will be utilized to ensure students are not experiencing any COVID related symptoms. See Health Checklist below. Should students experience any of these symptoms prior to a scheduled class time, we request that you do not attend class. Beyond Kung Fu reserves the right to refuse entrance to class based on the temperature and health check list results.
7. Sparring, self and ground defense will be suspended.
Only solo no contact, basics practice, conditioning and Taolu (forms) will be trained in all class times/days. This will also include no touch correction by instructors who will also maintain social distancing measures during class.
8. No pads, kicking shields, bags, weapons or training aids will be used in classes.
In this regard, all weapons currently stored at the club by members must be brought home until further notice.
9. No training cards or personal class sign-ins will be required for class.
Students will not require their training cards for class during this time. Also, sign in protocols will be replaced by the health survey taken upon arrival.
10. Parent viewing area will be closed.
Social distancing in this area will be difficult to monitor as well as maintaining the safety of the class. We invite parents to remain in the parking lot after drop off or, if leaving, it is requested you return promptly before the finish of your specified class time to ensure timely pick-up.
11. Change room areas and access to upstairs will be closed.
12. Students are to come to class ready.
Students must be in full uniform, mask, water bottle and shoes to attend class. No training bags, equipment or coats are to be brought into the club. Water bottles must be full when entering the club. The water filling station will not be available for use during this time. Beyond Kung Fu reserves the right to refuse access to training class should students not have proper uniform, as outlined above.
13. The washroom will be available for use but access will be provided upon request.
Students must notify the instructor(s) if/when the washroom facilities are required. This will assist in triggering cleaning protocols for this area after each use. Please remind students to utilize the washroom, at home, prior to attending class so this limits this requirement.
14. All students and parents must be aware of the new class protocols.
We ask that all students become familiar with the class protocols. Beyond Kung Fu will release information and videos to assist with these new measure and information will be posted when entering the school.
CLEANING AND SANITATION
1. Mats will be sanitized after every class.
With the 30-minute breaks set between every class, Management will sanitize and clean the mats in preparation for the next class.
2. The training space will be regularly ventilated.
The front and back door of the club will be opened at regular intervals to aid with air circulation and flow. Also, fans will be strategically placed to further circulate and exchange air.
3. Hands must be sanitized upon entering and exiting the school.
Students will be requested to sanitize hands upon entering and exiting the training space and, as required during their training time (i.e. after using the washroom). Hand sanitizer will be placed within these areas to assist with this protocol. Hand sanitizing and hand washing notices will be posted in high visibility areas to remind students of best practices. Instructors will monitor to ensure all students are maintaining best practices for hand sanitizing protocols.
Factsheet – Covid-19 – Hand Hygiene
4. High traffic areas will be cleaned during break periods, at the end of each evening and as required (i.e. after washroom use).
Cleaning checklists have been developed to ensure all areas are cleaned to proper standards. As we are limiting traffic zones, it will be easy to identify touch points and areas that require frequent and mandated cleaning. Cleaning sign-offs will be posted so that students and parents are aware of times the space has been sanitized.
**Note: This list is organic and will change based on priorities as outlined by provincial health guidelines.
